This weekend, I saw a few old friends from Marburg, which was nice. First, James arrived early in the morning to come hang out for the day. He saw some sites by himself in the morning, and then I met him up in the afternoon. Together, we went to the Ritter Sport store.
Now, I don't know about you, but before I met up with James and his siblings in Leipzig, I had no idea what Ritter Sport even was. If you did, congratulations. If not, I'm with you if you thought it was some kind of sport. Apparently, it's chocolate. And there's a main Ritter Sport store in Berlin, where they have hourly workshops and stuff.
Otherwise, you can go in and buy a whole bunch of chocolate.
We left with plenty of chocolate. Mostly for gifts. :) Then we headed upstairs, where there was a Christmas tree made of chocolate and some other exhibits. Almost like a mini-museum.
After the chocolate store, we headed home and just chilled. I was so tired from staying up late to watch my Blazers beat the Suns that I fell asleep as we watched an episode of How I Met Your Mother in the kitchen. We had plans to meet a couple of other Fulbrighters for dinner though, so around the corner we went—to Berlin Burger International.
Now my roommates had been raving about this place ever since I arrived in Berlin three months ago. Well, I finally went to it, and it was...pretty good. Not mind-blowing, but definitely fantastic.
One burger is definitely enough though, even without fries. I had the BBQ burger, which was rather tasty. Almost all the others got BBQ burgers too.
Then, on top of the delicious burgers, James and I got chili cheese fries. They were really good, and I must say that I now miss Shultzy's even more.
In about 5 minutes, the Blazers take on the San Antonio Spurs, and I am so thankful that I do not have to stay up till 3 or 4 AM to watch them play. The next two days will be spent prepping my research project for when I return in January from my month of travel. And laundry!
Until next time,
Sam
