Cambridge: Where Students Dress like Kids at Hogwarts

Okay, not everyone dresses like that, but I lost count of how many students I saw today in capes and long flowing coats. It's not just Cambridge either; I saw some students wearing Hogwarts-looking sweaters with green ties underneath yesterday, and I was tempted to ask them if they were in Slytherin.

This morning, we slept in. As in, we woke up and got up at noon. Once we finally got going, it was nearly 1 pm, and we took a cab into town. Definitely very hungry by this point. The driver dropped us right outside King's College, so we snapped a few pictures.

We ended up going to a place called Carluccio's, and we had some delicious pasta. One had these fried spinach balls, which were fantastic. I also took advantage of the WiFi to finish some work I had to turn in today for class (curses to you, school).

After lunch, we walked around, I picked up a SIM card, and we walked into various little shops. Cambridge is charming, and the architecture is beautiful. I just wish we had more sunlight, since it got dark by 4 pm. Given our late start, the pictures didn't turn out all that great.

After some tea, we eventually made our way to the mall, where I hung out in a Starbucks doing more schoolwork for an hour while Marcia went shopping. It worked out well actually, since I got work done and got to rest my leg. Groin injuries are so stubborn...

We were meeting Geoff and Katie around 8 pm for dinner, so we slowly made our way over to a pub some guy on the train had recommended yesterday. It was actually really quite good. I was starving, so I got their house burger. Funny, they don't ask you how you want your burger here; it just comes out well done. Geoff's theory: they're afraid of mad cow disease.

We got some dessert, too, but I only had a bite, since I don't like dessert. I did take a picture, though: apple and pear crumble and crème brûlée.

After dinner, we took a cab home. Pretty good day overall! It was great to catch up with Geoff after not seeing each other for three plus years and bring him something he was craving from the US.

Tomorrow, we head back to London and explore more than we explored in Cambridge. I will just have to come back during a warmer month to enjoy punting and grilling.
