Spicy Soup with Rice is Delicious

Last night we had our little dinner fiesta, and it ended up being a bigger group than I had originally imagined. But no matter, we always have plenty of food to go around, and the more the merrier!

18 people (including myself) crammed into my apartment kitchen, and we all had tom yum soup (or Brandon's lentil soup if non-spicy food was preferred). Nick also made an awesome fruit salad, and people pitched in with fresh bread, cakes, wine, and beer. Some folks also brought bowls, silverware, and chairs, which was definitely very helpful. Seriously, 'twas a feast!

I bought a few more packets of the tom yum soup paste along with bean sprouts, tofu, limes, and mushrooms. Along with the bean sprouts, tofu, and mushrooms, I squeezed half a lime into the soup, and we cut up the rest as additional garnish. We also had fresh cilantro for garnish. Paul and James also pitched in with rice or pots so I could cook more rice. Definitely a group effort. I had four bowls of soup (two of tom yum, two of lentil soup), three slices of bread, two pieces of cake...oh, and two beers. Needless to say, I was stuffed!

We crammed half the group in the kitchen. The other half rearranged the furniture in my bedroom into an eating space.

Surprisingly, we had leftovers from the soup, which I am about to eat for dinner tonight.

Of course, I had to take another picture of my soup. :)

As you can see, we had plenty of food to go around.

Pretty awesome...all four burners were on. Is that bad?

Plenty of beer. Plenty of fun.

Eating dinner in my bedroom turned out fine. Haha.

Clearly.

James and Elena made a cake. Nora made cheesecake. Yum.

I'm going to go eat dinner now and maybe watch Jaws in German with James, but I have one additional note about the radio show. We had fun getting a tour of the studio and playing around with the toys in the studio. Thank goodness we did not make any mistakes and accidentally broadcast our silliness to all of Marburg. Check out me trying to be a producer. Haha.

We actually recorded a few practice tapes, which I have on a CD. Unfortunately, my laptop decided to eat the CD and neither read it nor spit it out. At least Natilee got it on her laptop before I stuck it in mine. When I get a chance, I'll try and upload the clip. It's pretty much us talking about random topics in German and lots of laughing.

Ok, dinner time...

Sam
