We went out to the Plaka (rather touristy) area to try and gather interviews about the riots last December, but man, we all had the toughest luck getting much.
Worse, the weather has been getting warmer and more humid lately, so it was quite unpleasant to be roaming cobblestone streets in the mid-afternoon.
To top it all off, we found out the Metro line out to the soccer stadium is under construction again, so Olympiakos postponed their match today until September 12th or 13th. Imagine that! Good thing I decided against buying a replica soccer jersey today...
As a result, today's post is rather short and void of any exciting pictures as I'm sitting in the cafe again with Maggie using the Wi-Fi internet to respond to a volley of emails that I had not answered for a looooong time.
Tonight, we're meeting Taso for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe to catch up on how research went today, the latest news on our soccer game plans, and our strategy for the interviews during the rest of this week.
We leave for Santorini on Thursday and will be there for two days or so before going to Naxos for another two days or so. It'll be our last group excursion, so I need to find goggles, more sunscreen, more mosquito repellant, and snacks before then. Also need to do laundry.
Our schedule says we're supposed to be going to the National Archaeology Museum of Athens tomorrow, the Benaki Museum on Tuesday, and Lycabettus Hill on Wednesday in between transcribing and interviewing, so I should have more exciting photos to post in the week ahead. Stay tuned!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Sam
