Sunday Brunch

Each month, the HIA Senior Fellows in Berlin get together for a Sunday brunch. I've been getting invitations via email all year, but only today was I able to join other Senior Fellows at our program director's house.

The weather today was quite nice (warm again), and we met up in their backyard. The garden reminded me of an American backyard given its size.

Turns out, I was also the very first person who showed up. I had thought, since Germans are typically so on-time, that people would've already been there, but apparently, they show up at random times for these brunches. The next person didn't show up until about 1:15 PM, even though the brunch was supposed to start at 1 PM.

Besides eating food, one of the Senior Fellows told us about his recent research trip to Djibouti. It was really quite interesting, and to my surprise, he told us that Djibouti is quite expensive. The entire afternoon was straight up German, which was good for me, though it meant I didn't have as much to say.

In any case, it's going to be a very busy week ahead. But I'm excited about it. Two school visits tomorrow, two more on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and another on Friday. Mixed in are a few meetings for various projects, tutoring English, and working on my Fulbright project report. At some point, I also need to buy more groceries. I need more rice. :)

Ciao,

Sam
